As a Northern Minnesota elopement and intimate wedding photographer, I can assure you that it never gets old documenting love stories. Whether new or old friends, I truly can’t express just how grateful I am that this is my job. So when my dear friends reached out to book a Grand Marais Autumn adventure session, it was an immediate yes! From the vibrant foliage to the crisp, picturesque lakefront, we couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon.
North Shore Adventure Session
Kelly and Logan traveled from the Twin Cities with one goal in mind: being immersed in nature together. Exploring the Gunflint Trail in the company of a couple as deeply in love as Kelly and Logan truly filled my cup. The feeling of sharing one of my favorite places on Earth alongside my friends is indescribable. If you’ve been an avid reader of the blog, you’ll know that I spend an endless amount of time up the North Shore photographing elopements and couples sessions. But I can say with certainty that I have never experienced such optimal weather. While we weren’t showered in full sunshine, the overcast skies complimented the brilliant Fall foliage stretching across the landscape. Weather on the North Shore is unpredictable at best, so this adventure session in the forest was a welcome change of pace!
Kelly and Logan were absolute naturals in front of the camera. It’s no secret that I love to give direction and prompts to my couples to ensure they are comfortable in front of the camera. But it definitely makes my job easier when a couple can just be. Between their coy giggles, scrunchy-nose kisses, and full-belly laughs, my biggest struggle was not overshooting! As I reflect back on this dreamy Grand Marais autumn adventure session, I am brought back to this perfect afternoon on the Gunflint Trail. Frolicking around the scenic byway, breathing in the crisp North Shore air alongside two of my favorite people.

Documenting Kelly and Logan’s couple’s session along the North Shore was a moment I will hold close to my heart for a lifetime. But the best part is knowing that they will also treasure these moments. My eyes swell up just knowing that these photos will continue to live on for years and years to come.
