As a Minnesota elopement and intimate wedding photographer, the North Shore has such a special place in my heart. Whether it’s the towering pines, the rushing of waves crashing to shore, or the ever present breeze, it’s just the happiest place on Earth. So you can bet that when a North Shore elopement inquiry enters my inbox, I am doing the cringiest happy dance! When Kirsten and Tom inquired a few months before their Grand Marais, Minnesota Fall elopement, I couldn’t possibly contain my excitement.

An Adventurous Elopement in Northern Minnesota

I don’t mean to sound biased, but I am confident that I have the best clients ever. When I first hopped on the discovery call with Kirsten and Tom, I was immediately smitten over there vision for their adventurous elopement. They were truly a couple that knew what they wanted — adventure, intimacy, scenic views, and an easy-going day. With their hearts set on Grand Marais, they found 2 separate cozy cabins to complete their vision. Once those details were solidified, their dreamy North Shore elopement couldn’t come soon enough!

Kirsten and Tom’s dreamy Fall elopement began at Great Northern HAUS Cabin. They took their time enjoy a slow morning, sipping coffee from Java Moose, watching the waves of Lake Superior roll in. I was obsessed with their adventurous elopement details. Between the invitational suite, hiking boots, and growler of local draft beer, I kept feeling like I was witnessing a Pacific Northwest elopement. After the bride and groom were ready, they had a romantic first look in the gazebo behind the cabin.

Once some tears were shed, Kirsten and Tom hopped in their Jeep and drove the quick 10 minutes to Artist’s Point for their private vow exchange. Despite the ever-present wind off the lake, Artist’s Point delivered with the views, changing foliage, and warm sunshine. I couldn’t fight back tears as Kristen and Tom exchanged their vows overlooking the endless lake. It was a moment that none of us will ever forget.

After emotional vows were exchanged, and snapping some bridal portraits, Kirsten and Tom wanted to soak up the Fall colors on the Gunflint Trail. I’m certain that there has never been a more picturesque moment. Between the Jeep with the windows rolled down, the overcast skies, and this carefree couple, it was an incredible moment to witness.

Before the sun started to dip behind the trees, we headed to Kirsten and Tom’s 2nd cabin for some champagne. And let me tell you — this cabin was such a vibe. The Gaucho A-Frame Cabin by Patagonia Cabins was the perfect place for these two love birds to spend their honeymoon. Before we parted ways, Kirsten and Tom popped some champagne to celebrate entering the beautiful journey of marriage.
