September Fall Mt. Rainier Elopement
Imagine throwing the wedding rule book out the window and running off to Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park to say “I do.” That’s exactly what Mallory and Andile did, and their September fall Mt. Rainier elopement was nothing short of magical.
From getting ready at a cozy modern Mount Rainier cabin to exchanging vows along the trails at Paradise, their day was filled with quiet moments, adventure, and intention. We wrapped things up during blue hour as Mount Rainier slowly revealed itself through the clouds, making it the perfect ending to an unforgettable elopement experience.

Morning Couple Session at Reflection Lake
They began the morning with a quiet couples session at Reflection Lake, a lower elevation spot just below Paradise. We arrived right as the soft pink sunrise light hit Mount Rainier and the fog slowly lifted from the lake. It was peaceful, still, and surprisingly quiet.
We wandered toward the pine-lined trails where Mount Rainier reflected through the water. Mallory and Andile were completely in their own world, soaking in the moment together. We stayed as the sun rose higher and the lake slowly brightened with light.
From there, we made our way to a nearby waterfall. The hike down was a little challenging, with some careful climbing, but they loved the adventure. Once we reached the falls, everything slowed again as they took in the sound of the water and the calm around them.

Getting Ready and First Look at Their Mount Rainier Cabin
After a lunch break, I met Mallory and Andile back at their cozy modern Mount Rainier cabin for getting ready and their first look. We started with Andile so Mallory could take her time, breathe, and soak in the moment before her turn.
Andile and I headed upstairs to capture the details and those quiet getting ready moments. He slipped into his suit, tied his shoes, and stood by the window for a few portraits before heading outside to take a breather before the first look.
Mallory was absolutely timeless. She put on her dress, heels, and jewelry as soft light filled the cabin. I photographed the details around her dress and the cabin, and everything felt effortless and calm.
For their first look, they wanted to be outside with the mountain in view. I helped Andile get into position, then had Mallory slowly walk up and tap his shoulder. The moment he turned around, they both broke into tears. It was emotional, tender, and incredibly beautiful.
After their first look, we headed back up to Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park for their ceremony and the next chapter of their day.

A Ceremony with a Magnificent View of Mount Rainier
By the time we reached Paradise, it was clear this ceremony spot was going to be earned. Along the way, we had a surprise visit from a curious little chipmunk, which made for such a fun and unexpected moment during the hike.
When we arrived at the ceremony location, the timing could not have been better. The view was absolutely stunning, and there were very few people around. They took a moment to settle in, breathe, and soak it all in before beginning their ceremony.
As an ordained photographer, I stepped aside to let Mallory and Andile fully take control of the moment while I documented everything quietly. I handled the paperwork afterward so they were legally married, but the ceremony itself was entirely theirs.
They exchanged heartfelt vows, wiped away tears, laughed together, held hands, exchanged rings, shared a prayer, and sealed it all with their first kiss. As if on cue, Mount Rainier slowly revealed itself as the clouds lifted, creating the most beautiful and meaningful backdrop for their ceremony.

Sunset to Blue Hour at Paradise
After all the paperwork was officially done, we wandered back down the trails and let the rest of the evening unfold naturally. Along the way, we even found a kind stranger to sign as a witness, which turned into a small celebration moment that felt so fun and unique.
As the sun began to set, elk appeared nearby, quietly grazing while we watched and soaked it all in. Mount Rainier put on a dramatic show as the light hit the treeline, creating long shadows that we played with during photos. When blue hour arrived, soft pinks and oranges still lingered in the sky, and the whole experience felt peaceful and intimate.
They skipped along the trails, laughed, kissed, held hands, danced a little, and completely lived in the moment together. It truly felt like the time of their lives. On the hike back to the parking lot, we stumbled upon one last viewpoint glowing with orange and purple tones, with the mountains and trees silhouetted perfectly against the sky. It was the most incredible ending to their day.
Before we parted ways, I handed them a few Polaroid films so they could hold something real from their elopement day, a tangible memory to carry with them long after the sun had set.
As the light faded and the day came to a close, it was clear this elopement was never about a schedule or a checklist. It was about slowing down, being present, and choosing each other in a place that felt meaningful. A perfect reminder that elopements can be simple, adventurous, and deeply personal.
