Grace and Ryan chose an Alaska Glacier helicopter elopement that felt a little more adventurous and completely true to them.
We were originally supposed to fly out the day before but heavy fog rolled in and we had to postpone. And honestly, I am so glad we did.
The next day brought clear blue skies, sunshine, and one of those rare perfect Alaska days. It was around 65 degrees, which felt unreal for being on a glacier.
The Experience
They took off in the afternoon with Outbound Heli Adventures, and from the moment the helicopter lifted, everything started to feel a little surreal.
Mountains stretched endlessly, glaciers carved through the landscape, and the whole experience felt bigger than anything you could imagine from the ground.
When we landed, everything went quiet. We took time to explore, walking across the glacier and taking it all in. They even tried glacier water straight from the source. Cold, fresh, and something you do not experience every day.
They exchanged vows surrounded by mountains and endless ice. It felt calm, intentional, and completely focused on just the two of them.
Afterward, we explored more of the glacier, finding different spots and letting the day unfold naturally. At one point, another helicopter flew by and gave us a wave, which made the moment feel even more surreal.
And then came their favorite part.
They got into a small inflatable kayak and floated across the glacier water. It was something they never imagined doing, especially on their wedding day. It felt playful, different, and completely their own.
Ending the Day
Eventually, it was time to head back. On the way back, we spotted a moose in the river from the helicopter, which was such an unexpected moment. It felt like one of those experiences you cannot plan for, but makes the whole day even more memorable.
But you could feel it. They were so happy they chose this experience. They kept saying it was one of the best things they had ever done, and honestly, it is the kind of day you do not forget.
