Because of that, this romantic coastal anniversary at Black Beach in Minnesota was designed to feel meaningful, not posed. It was slow, cozy, and focused on connection.

April and Josh’s Anniversary Session
This session began with a model call for a content day. Shortly after, April reached out to share that she and her husband, Josh, were interested in modeling.
Even better, the content day fell on their anniversary weekend. Because of this, they decided to turn the session into a romantic coastal anniversary experience.
Instead of just modeling, they chose to celebrate their relationship. As a result, the session felt personal, relaxed, and true to who they are together.

About Black Beach in Minnesota
Black Beach, also known as Onyx Beach, is the only black sand beach on the North Shore of Minnesota. Because of this, it’s a unique spot for anniversary sessions and coastal photos.
The beach is located near Silver Bay, about one hour and ten minutes north of Duluth. As a result, it’s easy to reach for couples traveling up the North Shore.
In addition, Black Beach is ADA accessible and allows leashed dogs. This makes it a great option for couples who want an easy walk to the shoreline or want to include their pup.
You’ll also find a variety of scenery in one place. There are cliff views over Lake Superior, green trees along the shore, fall colors, spring wildflowers, and soft summer light. Because of this, Black Beach works beautifully in every season.
