Olivia + Jacob’s Stunning Rainy Mendenhall Glacier Elopement

A rainy first look at the Airbnb near Mendenhall Glacier

After Olivia and Jacob got off the cruise, they got ready at the cutest A-frame Airbnb, The Buoy Cabin Rental. They cannot pack much due to the limited weights on the cruise, so they don’t bring much. The Airbnb was perfect, private, and hid in the forest with astounding views. Jacob stood outside, enjoyed watching nature while Olivia put her wedding dress on and got ready.

Fun Facts: May is one of the driest months of the year, but it was raining nonstop for the whole weekend. We were prepared and enjoyed it. It was absolutely beautiful, with the vibrant green and blue colors popping out and the fog flying through the mountains. It was dreamy.

Vows Exchanges by the Dreamy Waterfall in Mendenhall Glacier

After their sweet first look, they spent some quality time before heading over to the Mendenhall Glacier. It was a 20-minute drive from Airbnb to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. We hiked for almost 30 minutes on a moderate trail to Nugget Falls. Olivia + Jacob improvised, exchanged vows, and did it freestyle. It was a perfect moment, with the big waterfall and the glacier in view. The rain softened up a little bit — sparkling rain.

An Evening Exploring the Mendenhall Glacier

The post-ceremony photos took our breaths away! We intentionally set aside a ton of time for these two to enjoy their evening together and really breathe in all the feelings of the day. We explored different areas of the Mendenhall Glacier, from a dreamy waterfall to glacier overlooks to lush green forests with the mountains peeking out—every spot is amazing!

During our time adventuring around these breathtaking locations, I made sure to get plenty of photos and documentation of their evening exploring the Mendenhall Glacier. We tasted the water from the waterfall (it was freezing cold water!), Jacob put the water on his hair to get the refreshing feeling from the glacier water, and we hiked back to the park lot but with a lot of detours to explore more.

Delicious Elopement Meals and Drinks at Brewery in Alaska

After the portraits are done, we head over to Forbidden Peak Brewery for some drinks and small meals, then we go to downtown to do some more portrait photoshoots before wrapping up and hopping on the cruise. (The rain gotten heavier than it has all day and fog getting thicker.)

Photographing days like these are so special, even though the weather was chaotic, cold, and wet, Olivia and Jacob were so positive and brave, down for the adventure! We embraced the chaos and truly immersed ourselves in this experience. I am so grateful for every minute of it and for all my couples, who are always down for a real adventure.
